Where do we get our Itoigawa Jade?

Our Itoigawa jade comes from the Itoigawa region in Niigata Prefecture, Japan | 日本新潟縣糸魚川. They are formed deep underground more than 500 million years ago under high pressure. It was later brought to the surface by tectonic movement along the Fossa Magna, the great fault line that runs through this part of Japan.

ORIENTSENSES works with trustable suppliers in Japan and obtained certificates by Japan Stone Association | 日本銘石協會 for all the imported Itoigawa jade to make sure its authenticity.

Why do we pick Itoigawa Jade?

We choose Itoigawa jade because it is Japan's national stone and because no two pieces are the same. Its color moves naturally between green and white. That variation is what we keep. We do not try to make every piece look identical.

For us, the stone carries a quiet sense of protection and steadiness. It does not feel loud or demanding, it feels calm and clear. People have kept it close for a long time for this reason - not only as decoration, but also as something that supports a sense of inner balance.

Our Design & Craftsmanship

Our artisans set it in a modern form, so the old meaning can be worn everyday. The design stays simple and clean. We place a stone among truncated silver or gold cubes, or balance it in a two-tone arrangement. Each piece is finished by hand in our studio. We select the stone for its colour and clarity, then string with care so the natural variation remains visible. The result is a meaningful piece that is both ancient and current.
